Overview
Following a Council Decision MUBS management established The Department of Transport and Logistics Management on 1st July 2022.
The department currently houses the Bachelor of Transport and Logistics Management and several logistics course units offered by other programs, the Department is also in the final stages of developing the Masters of Science in Transport and Logistics as well as other professional and short courses.
The number of students currently offering Bachelor of Transport and Logistics Management stands at 822 while the academic staff are15. In addition to teaching the department conducts several activities to foster research, teaching and learning for example field trips for students. Our students visit different places to enhance their learning experience for example warehouses, inland cargo depots, airports, ports among others. Additionally our staff participate in both local and international conferences. The department also supports the Transport and Logistics Innovation Challenge which is hosted by the students association (MUTLA).

Muyomba Brian CMILT Profile
The Department of Transport and Logistics Management is currently headed by Brian Muyomba CMILT. Brian is a Transport and Logistics expert with over 11 years local and international experience. He is a key lecturer for the Bachelor of Transport and Logistics Management program at MUBS where he develops, teaches and assesses several courses. He is a Chartered Member of the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport. He is a certified FIATA trainer and a Certified CILT Trainer.
He holds several qualifications in transport and logistics like the coveted FIATA Diploma in International Freight Forwarding, the CILT International Advanced Diploma in Logistics and Transport Management, MA Economic Policy and Management and the Bachelor of Transport and Logistics Management among others.
He is a consultant with the Uganda Revenue Authority, Uganda Freight Forwarders Association, Federation of East African Freight Forwarders Associations and the Uganda Management Institute. He has worked on several consultancy projects including the Review of Universal Logistics Standards for Warehousing and Distribution, Transport and Fleet Management Inspire Consortium, Spain. He also participated in the review and population of the competency profile and task analysis for the Warehousing and Logistics module under the East African Customs and Freight Forwarding Practicing Certificate. Additionally he is the module leader in the course planning team for developing material, assessments and teaching manuals for the FIATA Diploma in International Freight Forwarding.
Currently Brian serves as the National Treasurer of the CILT Uganda Chapter. He is the CILT International Business Focal person for Corporate Memberships. He also serves as the Education Champion for CILT international in Uganda. He is a member of the Humanitarian Logistics Association; a member of the National Logistics Platform among other professional bodies. Until August 2022 he severed as Patron of the Makerere University Transport and Logistics Association (MUTLA) which he founded in 2012. Brian also served as the chairperson of the Makerere University Business School Staff Association from 2019- 2022.
